The Survivor Tree

Here it is my painting that I entered into the KZNSA Gallery Members Exhibit…

“The Survivor Tree”.

My story for this painting goes like this:

The Survivor Tree is an amazing real-life story of how through destruction, death and theft this tree lived. To me this resembles if your roots are embedded in Christ, nothing can destroy you! We more than survive; we are victorious and grow to new heights.

In Glorious Colour

I’m very excited about the Saatchi Online Showdown competition! The theme is “In Glorious Colour”. I have just the painting I’d like to work on to submit for this. It’s great to have a deadline to work towards, and helps me to complete works at a steady pace.

KZNSA Members Exhibition

The KZNSA Art Gallery members exhibition starts today. The time has not been announced but previously it started at 6pm.

Address:166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, Durban

The theme for this year is Grass Roots, and this is what the gallery said about it:

"Beyond the obvious and typical meaning of ‘Grassroots’, namely the below ground aspect of one of the most varied and tenacious of plant species, lies a more nuanced and ‘social’ phrase that has come to mean ‘popular’ or ‘of the people’. In South Africa this has an added socio-political connotation which refers directly to democratic principles that recognise the power and value of governance ‘by and for the people’. ‘Grassroots movements imply communities acting at a local level by supporting common concerns. Members are encouraged to explore the richness of this theme and its layering of meanings. A fitting theme in the 20th year of our countries democracy."

I'm so happy that I got to submit my piece in time! I will post a pic of it here later this week, in respect of the exhibitions opening tonight.
